Peace, love, and soul are returning to Harlem. The 2021 Soul Train Music Awards will take place on November 28th to recognize the best in soul R&B and Hip Hop music. The ceremony is set to air on BET, BET Her, and VH1.

Some of our favorite actors and musicians joined us on the Soul Train Carpet for an exclusive interview with Baller Alert and shared their favorite memories and highlights of Soul Train.

DJ Cassidy said the Soul Train Line at places like The White House for Obama’s 50th Birthday and Oprah’s school opening in South Africa are the best moments for him. “It’s not the Soul Train line you see on TV shows — it’s those iconic nights where the Soul Train line formed,” he said.

Cassidy mentioned Soul Train changing the way we celebrate. “It has permeated global music, culture, and dance culture. That’s what I think of most when I think of Soul Train.”

Castmates of Tyler Perry’s “Sista’s,” Devale Ellis and Crystal Renee Hayslett stopped by and shared their memories of Soul Train. “For me, it was waking up on Saturday mornings and learning new dance moves,” said Hayslett.

Devale Ellis said he shared the same memory of waking up on Saturday mornings. “At that time Shamar Moore was on the show — he can’t dance but he was a really good host,” he said. Ellis said he remembers Shamar going from hosting to acting and saying, “if he can do it, I can do it too.”

Tristan ‘Mack’ Wilds dropped by Baller Alert and shared his favorite thing about The Soul Train Awards is being unabashedly black. “It’s a time for us to just be black and not be afraid or feel like somebody is telling you what to be,” he said. Wilds said Souk Train is a time for us to be as big and as black as we want to be.
