In honor of Jeff Bezos has donated $100 million to the Obama Foundation.
On Monday, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos donated $100 million to the Obama Foundation to honor late Congressman John Lewis. Bezos also asked that the plaza at the Obama Presidential Center be named the John Lewis Plaza as part of the gift, the foundation said in a statement, CNN reports.
“Freedom fighters deserve a special place in the pantheon of heroes, and I can’t think of a more fitting person to honor with this gift than John Lewis,” Bezos said in the statement.
John Lewis was first elected to Congress in 1986 and served 17 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is also one of the original Freedom Fighters, who buses integrated and worked as a Civil Rights leader throughout his life.
