In his new memoir Will, Will Smith opened up about having a unhealthy relationship with sex that it made him physically ill.
Smith discussed his troubles with romantic and sexual relationships, identifying the end of his relationship with a woman named Melanie, which was a turning point in his life that led to his unhealthy sexual habits.
Melanie, who has remained virtually anonymous, cheated on Smith when he was on tour for his music career, Smith wrote. He claims he turned to wanton, casual sex in an attempt to recover.
“I had sex with so many women, and it was so constitutionally disagreeable to the core of my being, that I developed a psychosomatic reaction to having an orgasm,” Smith wrote. “It would literally make me gag and sometimes even vomit.”
“I desperately need relief but as there is no pill for heartbreak, I resorted to the homeopathic remedies of shopping and rampant sexual intercourse,” Smith wrote.
“Up until this point in my life, I had only had sex with one woman other than Melanie,” he explained. “But over the next few months, I went full ghetto hyena.”
While Smith and Melanie finally survived the infidelity, however, the relationship ended in a terrible and vicious fight, according to Smith.
Smith’s memoir also delves into his and his wife’s sex lives, describing Jada Pinkett Smith as dissatisfied with his performance.
“We drank every day, and had sex multiple times every day, for four straight months. I started to wonder if this was a competition.” Smith wrote. “Either way, as far as I was concerned, there were only two possibilities: (1) I was going to satisfy this woman sexually, or (2) I was going to die trying.”
