Adele’s ’30’ Passes Certified Lover Boy as 2021’s Biggest Debut Album

Looks like Drake should be sliding over to make room for Adele. The long-awaited album 30 just surpassed Drake’s Certified Lover Boy as the U.S. biggest album debut of the year. 

The 12 track album is expected to be the top-selling album of 2021 with only a month to spare. According to Billboard, initial MRC Data says she racked up more than 660,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in just three days. That’s just the U.S., not even her homeland, the United Kingdom. 

The massive feat surpassed the September 3 release of Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, which launched with 613,000 earned units for the week ending September 9.  Looks like she’s not taking it easy on last year’s best-seller, Taylor Swift either. Swift’s Evermore sold 462,000 copies in the first week. Adele’s album is expected to chart the Billboard Top 200 very soon as well.
