Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen is reportedly refusing to leave his home after posting now-deleted cryptic messages on social media claiming someone is in his home trying to kill him.

The Minnetrista Public Safety Department announced in a news release that the police station received a call around 3 a.m. from Griffen asking for assistance because he thinks someone is inside of his home. He says that he fired his weapon and no one got injured.

In now-deleted Instagram posts, Griffen and his agent, Brian Murphy, were exchanging texts. Griffen is begging for his help. Griffen wrote, “I need help people trying to kill me.” He then says, “Better call 911.”

The team released a statement Wednesday afternoon stating, “Vikings representatives and the team’s mental health professionals have been on-site at Everson Griffen’s home since early this morning and are cooperating with law enforcement/ Our only concern at this time is the safety and well-being of Everson and his family. We will have further comment at the appropriate time.”

Griffen has previously suffered from mental health issues. In 2018, the football player was hospitalized for mental health after an incident in a Minnesota hotel where he allegedly threatened to shoot staff unless he was allowed into his room.
