A transgender Netflix employee who publicly criticized the company for airing Dave Chappelle’s controversial special “The Closer” has resigned.
Terra Field shared her resignation letter online on Sunday. The former software engineer for the streaming company shared her resignation on social media, saying, “This isn’t how I thought things would end, but I am relieved to have closure.”
Field openly criticized Netflix on Oct. 6, in a tweet telling followers that “yesterday we launched another Chappelle special where he attacks the trans community, and the very validity of transness — all while trying to pit us against other marginalized groups.”
Shortly after Field posted the tweet, she was temporarily suspended, though the company denied that her critical tweets played any part in its decision.
I resigned from Netflix yesterday, you can read my resignation letter below. I'm not happy that this is how things turned out, but I do think this outcome is the best for all parties involved. https://t.co/K6Bt5is5wz #NetflixWalkout
