The man accused of accidentally discharging a firearm inside the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport earlier this month turned himself in to police Tuesday.
Kenny Wells, 42, turned himself into the Clayton County Jail, according to an Atlanta Police Department news release. He is facing charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a weapon at a commercial airport, reckless conduct, and discharging firearms on the property of another.
On November 20, Wells’ lunged for the gun as his bag was being searched by TSA agents at a security checkpoint. In doing so, the weapon went off. Wells fled the scene and has been the subject of a manhunt by several law enforcement agencies.
The gun was later found in a garbage can at the airport three days after the incident sent the airport into chaos.
Wells remains in the county jail without bond.
