New police footage shows Atlanta Braves Marcell Ozuna choking his wife just minutes before being arrested.
Back in May, Ozuna was arrested in Sandy Springs, Georgia for two counts of domestic battery. In addition to choking his wife, Ozuna threatened to kill her and hit her with his arm cast.
In police bodycam footage, Ozuna is seen grabbing his wife by the neck as authorities enter the home. Police then yell to Ozuna to release her and get on the ground.
According to Ozuna’s wife, the physical altercation stems from cheating claims. Ozuna was first charged with a felony aggravated assault but strangulation. However, the charge was reduced to a family misdemeanor violence charge. Ozuna entered a pretrial diversion program & had to complete 200 hours of community service as well as anger management.
Marcell was eventually suspended by the MLB with a 20-game ban as a result of the altercation.
“Any instance of domestic violence is unacceptable, and we fully support the decision by the commissioner’s office regarding Marcell,” says an Atlanta Braves representative.
