A man has been charged with the gruesome Thanksgiving murder of his on-again, off-again girlfriend after questioning the paternity of their daughter.
The victim, Dejah Jenkins-Minus, and her daughter were staying at her family’s house in Boston for Thanksgiving. The 22-year-old woman departed in the early hours of November 25th to visit her daughter’s father, Leonard D. Robinson, who lives in Lowell. When she failed to return for Thanksgiving dinner, her mother went to Robinson’s place and found the door locked and lights off. The following morning, a family member went to the home and climbed through a window before officers reached the scene to conduct a welfare check. While inside, the family member kicked in a locked bedroom door and discovered Jenkins-Minus’ body. She’d been stabbed 58 times, and her neck was broken. The 2-month-old baby was unharmed at a separate location, though it is unclear how she got there. Police discovered blood on her diaper bag.
When police examined the home, they located blood in the kitchen, floors, and walls. The knife used in the slaying was also discovered, though the 22-year-old man was nowhere to be found.
Robinson was wearing an ankle monitor as part of a separate pending gun case. Police tracked him to multiple locations around Boston before he cut the monitor off. He was arrested Monday night in the city and is being held without bond. While no motive has been publicly announced, the murder comes after Robinson doubted that he was the newborn’s father on Facebook.
He has pleaded not guilty.
