A Florida mother was arrested after she left her infant child home alone on Thanksgiving and went to a bar.
The holidays are all about spending time with the people you love. However, according to The New York Post, a 37-year-old Florida mother skipped out on that opportunity with her infant and opted to visit a bar on Thanksgiving night. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Officer responded to Victoria Hildalgo’s home after they received a call from a woman saying that Hildalgo “sounded as though she was under the influence of alcohol.” They added that a gun allegedly went off in her home.
The woman ended up going to the Hildalgo’s home to find a bullet embedded in the front door and a car that she and Hildago shared wasn’t there, the news outlet reports. When police arrived, they found Hildalgo’s baby left alone in its crib. Police left the baby with a family member and then went on a search to find Hildalgo, who was in the passenger seat of a vehicle that had been pulled over. Police say the Hildalgo’s “eyes were bloodshot and watery, her breath smelled of alcohol, and her speech was slurred while being questioned.”
Hidalgo was sitting in the car with 49-year-old Robert Sampson, who said he didn’t know her, had just met her at the Paddywagon Irish Pub and had no idea about her personal matters at home.
The woman was arrested and charged with child neglect without great bodily harm. She was released on a $3,500 bond after being booked at the Charlotte County Jail.
