Ellen DeGeneres Sued After Making Fun of Woman’s Name During Her Show – blogged by @LoveRubyWoo

What started out as a seemingly innocent joke could end up costing talk show host Ellen DeGeneres some big bucks.

During a segment on The Ellen Show called “What’s Wrong With These Ads…And These Signs?”, DeGeneres displayed pictures of advertisements and signs from around the world that would make many people do a double take. One of the signs that DeGeneres featured on the segment was a real estate ad in Georgia with the real estate agent’s name, Titi Pierce, on it. DeGeneres jokingly pronounced the agent’s name “Titty Pierce” and as one could probably guess, she followed it up with a boob joke.

The woman, whose name is actually pronounced Tee-Tee, was not pleased that DeGeneres made fun of her on national television, and she’s decided to take legal action. In a lawsuit filed in Georgia last week, Pierce claims that DeGeneres invaded her privacy by airing her name and phone number on national television and that she inflicted emotional distress on her. According to her lawsuit, Pierce said she started to receive harassing calls from viewers of The Ellen Show after the episode aired.

Pierce plans to sue DeGeneres for an unspecified monetary amount for the traumatic experience that she’s suffered and she also wants to make sure that episode never goes on air again.

Do you think this woman is justified in suing Ellen?
