The boyfriend of the pregnant woman who was beaten and abducted from a Miami-Dade home was arrested on murder and kidnapping charges, police said Thursday.
32-year-old Xavier Johnson is facing first-degree murder and other charges involving the disappearance of Andreae Lloyd, 27.
Johnson was charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and armed burglary with assault or battery after he confessed to the crime, Miami-Dade Police officials said.
Police had been searching for Lloyd and confirmed that human remains were found in a wooded area. Police received a tip that Johnson was seen in that same wooded area by family members of Lloyd. Police detained Johnson and took him in for questioning when they arrived at the scene as detectives continued to search for Lloyd. Human remains were found in that wooded area and later identified to be the 27-year-old.
Lloyd is the girlfriend and mother of Johnson’s two children. Records revealed she was pregnant with her third child.
Johnson was booked into the Miami-Dade jail, where he was held without bond Thursday.
Police said Lloyd was a caretaker and had been working at home when a man, later identified as Johnson, knocked on the door around 12:30Â a.m. Tuesday and Lloyd answered it.
Johnson started beating Lloyd and dragged her before forcing her into a white Honda Civic and fleeing the scene, police said.
