Well, if there is anything to be learned when robbing a bank, it’s to wait to deposit the money at a different location. A bank robber missed the memo after he deposited money into an ATM outside of the bank he robbed.

A 44-year-old California man was arrested after robbing Wells Fargo Bank in Wilmington this past Saturday.

According to Delaware State Police, McRoberts Williams gave the bank teller a note saying that he was robbing the bank. The bank teller then handed over an undisclosed amount of money in an envelope. Williams fled the bank on foot and went to the side of the building to deposit the money into the ATM.

After depositing the money back into the bank, the robber fled on foot behind the Prices Corner Shopping Center. Responding state troopers caught up to him taking him into custody.

The police reports, “Williams was transported to Troop 2 where he was charged with Robbery 2nd Degree (Felony).” It also says, “Williams was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $6,000 cash bond.”

The incident doesn’t compare to recent thefts in California. The state has been the main focus of organized mobs plotting on stores like Nordstrom.
