Jay-Z Says He Forgives Lil Mama for Crashing His 2009 VMAs Performance With Alicia Keys

Jay-Z finally opened up about the moment Lil Mama crashed the stage during his performance with Alicia Keys at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

During a conversation hosted by Genius’ Rob Markman on “Twitter Spaces,” Hov recalled the now legendary moment Lil Mama hopped on stage with him and Alicia while they performed their smash hit “Empire State of Mind.”

When Markman asked if Lil Mama was forgiven for crashing the stage, the billionaire rapper responded by defending her. “Of course, of course,” Jay said. “C’mon. Don’t do that… That’s our sister. Man, we love her. I wouldn’t recommend people just jumping on other artists’ stages…”

Jay-Z explained, “She’s a New Yorker… She got excited. Things happen. Of course, we love her… yes, she’s forgiven. It’s all love and she was coming from a place of love it’s just… may have been a little too excited.”
