An 11-year-old boy was honored by authorities after saving a choking classmate and a woman in a house fire on the same day.
On December 9, Davyon saved a fellow classmate who was choking on a bottle cap by performing the Heimlich maneuver. According to the school principal, the classmate used his mouth to loosen his bottle when the cap got stuck in his throat. Once Davyon noticed the student choking, he ran over, wrapped his arms around the student, and kept thrusting until the cap dislodged.
This must have been a big moment for Davyon because apparently, helping people is something he likes to do.
“He has always indicated that he wants to be an EMT. So he got to put that desire into action and immediately saved that young man,” the principal says.
Davyon’s exciting day wouldn’t end there. Later on, the sixth-grader saw a house fire and noticed a disabled woman attempting to escape the flames. Davyon did what he do best and sprinted over to assist the lady to her car for safety.
Davyon’s acts of heroism resulted in him being rewarded as an honorary sheriff deputy and police officer. He was also presented with the heroism award from his school.
