TheĀ NBAĀ has updated itsĀ COVID-19Ā protocols, reducing the amount of time a vaccinated player, coach, or official needs to isolate from 10 days down to six.Ā
TheĀ Daily MailĀ obtained a copy of a memo sent to teams on Monday announcing that the playersā union agreed to reduce isolation time. Players, coaches, and officials can still test out of the leagueās COVID protocols by passing two tests 24 hours apart.Ā
The NBA updated its protocols based on the new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, which cut isolation and quarantine time down to five days for asymptomatic cases.Ā
The NBA has been hit hard by positive cases. In the last two weeks, 166 players were placed in the leagueās health and safety protocols. A season-high of 27 players entered protocols on Sunday.Ā
The omicron variant has accounted for about 90 percent of recent cases in players.
