The NBA has updated its COVID-19 protocols, reducing the amount of time a vaccinated player, coach, or official needs to isolate from 10 days down to six.
The Daily Mail obtained a copy of a memo sent to teams on Monday announcing that the players’ union agreed to reduce isolation time. Players, coaches, and officials can still test out of the league’s COVID protocols by passing two tests 24 hours apart.
The NBA updated its protocols based on the new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, which cut isolation and quarantine time down to five days for asymptomatic cases.
The NBA has been hit hard by positive cases. In the last two weeks, 166 players were placed in the league’s health and safety protocols. A season-high of 27 players entered protocols on Sunday.
The omicron variant has accounted for about 90 percent of recent cases in players.
