A Minnesota teen is behind bars for allegedly trying to rob an elderly woman. But what’s even more interesting is that his mother recognized him in CCTV footage and turned him in.
Isaiah Jamal Foster, 18, faces a charge of aggravated robbery and assault for the Dec. 23 attack on the 81-year-old woman at a Walgreens in St Paul.
Authorities released the CCTV footage last week, which captured the suspect trying to steal the victim’s bag when she was going into the store.
The victim had her purse strapped around her wrist and was violently pulled onto the sidewalk when the suspect grabbed hold.
She suffered a brain bleed, broken pelvis, and other injuries from the fall. She was treated at a hospital and then released.
Foster’s mom told cops she recognized the coat in the video— and that she was convinced it was her teenage son, the New York Post reported
“I’m 100 percent sure that is him,” the mother said, the criminal complaint stated, adding she didn’t raise her son that way — and turned him in after m “praying on it,” the complaint said.
Foster had already been in police custody — for a carjacking.
He was wearing the same coat when he was taken in over the alleged carjacking.
