The world’s oldest living person just turned another year older with the celebration of her 119th birthday.
There’s nothing like celebrating the day you were born, especially if you’ve had more than 100 of them. That’s the case for 119-year-old Kane Tanaka, who made it to 119 this past weekend.
“Great achievement.: Reached 119 years old, I was able to safely reach the age of 119!” Tanaka’s great-granddaughter tweeted.
“It’s been 22 years since Sarah Knauss reached the age of 119,” she said referencing America’s oldest ever woman, who died at 119nin 1999. “This is the latest photo of Kako. It was when my relatives went to see me in December. I was able to come this far with the support of many people. I hope you will continue to have fun, cheerful and energetic,” wrote Tanaka’s great-granddaughter in a tweet for her granny.
The young lady, born in 1903, has seen a lot of life. She lived through both World Wars, the 1918 Spanish flu, and shoot, now even the Coronavirus pandemic. On top of that, Tanaka has experienced 49 Summer and Winter Olympic Games. “I don’t remember her talking much about the past … She’s very forward-thinking — she really enjoys living in the present,” Tanaka’s grandson, Eiji Tanaka, told CNN last year, CNN World reports.
Baby girl is living her life as a resident at a nursing home in Fukuoka. Tanaka is known for keeping her mind in tip-top shape by doing math and staying curious, CNN World reports.
