Pabst Blue Ribbon is starting the year with an aggressive marketing campaign. Either that or a disgruntled employee took control of the company’s Twitter.
“Not drinking this January? Eat *ss instead,” PBR wrote in an NSFW tweet on Monday.
The backlash was swift, and the company immediately apologized for the problematic now-deleted tweet. Ad Age obtained a copy of an emailed apology, in which the company chalked it up to “poor judgment” by the tweet’s author.
“We apologize about the language and content of our recent tweets… the tweets in question were written in poor judgment by one of our associates…” said the Vice President of marketing in an email statement. “In no way does the content of these tweets reflect the values of Pabst and our Associates.”
The VP added, “We’re handling the matter internally and have removed the tweets from our social platforms.”
