Several historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) all received bomb threats on the exact same day.
ABC News reports this past Tuesday afternoon and evening, at least seven HBCUs received bomb threats. Schools were forced to shut down and evacuate over the scare. Some of the schools included in the threats were Howard University, Norfolk University, Florida Memorial University and Xavier University.
Many of the schools released statements letting the public know no bombs were found and that staff and students are safe.
“NSU Police Dept. completed investigation of a bomb threat received Tuesday evening and issued an “All Clear.” Students have been secured in a hotel and dorms remain closed until 8 AM Wednesday. NSU Police and authorities secured campus. For emergencies, call NSU at 757-823-9000,” wrote Norfolk University on Twitter.
“All clear. Howard’s Department of Public Safety (DPS) and MPD responded to a potential bomb threat on campus this afternoon. The perimeter was secured and searched. No active devices were found and the area has been cleared,” tweeted Howard University.
Schools are working with law enforcement to track down the root of the threats.
