It looks like Soulja Boy is returning to reality T.V. and possibly Squid Games?
In an exclusive interview with Baller Alert, Soulja Boy talks about his new show, Being Draco on REVOLT. Streaming exclusively on the REVOLT app, this six-episode docuseries will follow Soulja Boy along as he navigates life, music, and entrepreneurship while chasing the next milestone in his career.
The rapper said the series would highlight his day-to-day life. “Yall get to see everything behind the scenes from concerts to be being in movies,” he said. Soulja expressed that this show will also help people “get used to” seeing him on the big screen.
Soulja plans to focus his time on acting on scripted T.V. shows and movies. “I got scripts on the table right now that I’ve been studying,” he told Baller Alert. “I’m about to be filming a T.V. show coming soon. So yall definitely gonna see me on the big screen.”
After releasing multiple hits and establishing a record label, Soulja said he “has more leverage” to focus on his acting career. He hasn’t been on any scripted series or movies yet because he was spending his time in the studio, he expressed in the interview. “It was still the beginning of my music career and I had a lot to prove,” he said.
The rapper said he would be working on his music, but he’ll be focusing more on TV shows, movies, and commercials.
He also expressed that he’ll be burying the hatchet with rappers Kanye West and NBA Yung in order to prove that he’s serious about acting. Following the release of Donda, Soulja lashed out at Ye when he realized that his verse on “Remote Control” was left off the album. The Chicago emcee later insinuated that he was unimpressed with Draco’s bars. Soulja claimed that the act of removing his verse was “selfish as a motherfucker,” but he also took issue with Ye’s public disrespect of his lyrics.
“I’m coming into 2022 with a new me. All of that is behind me,” Soulja said. “I can’t be beefing and acting in movies and T.V. shows. That don’t mix.”
The rapper said he’s going to focus his energy on reading scripts, and he’ll get back to beefing with rappers later on. He stated that if Kanye asked him to collaborate on an album, he’d be interested; however, Ye would have to get on his reality T.V. show first.
After watching the Netflix hit series Squid Games, Soulja said he’d like to be the first black person in the show. “Put me in the Squid Games, and I’m winning the whole piggy bank,” he said. “I am not scared. I went to jail, and it was just like the Squid Games.”
Being Draco premieres on January 21st on the REVOLT TV app.
