Jake Paul Transitions To MMA With Multiyear Fight Deal

Well, he may ruffle some feathers, but we can’t say Jake Paul didn’t get to the money last year.   He raked in such a hefty amount that he is now among the list of sport’s biggest names.

Many people thought it was laughable when the controversial YouTuber turned boxer compared himself to the greats: Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, and Floyd Mayweather. But Forbes estimated that Paul made $40 million before taxes from his three boxing matches last year, putting his record at 5-0 overall.

And he made an additional $5 million from his other endeavors, including his videos. Paul ranks No. 2 on the list of the highest-paid YouTube stars for 2021.

That $45 million profit would have landed him at No. 20 on last year’s Forbes list of the world’s highest-paid athletes, placing him in front of the only boxer to make the list of the top 50 of that ranking Canelo Alvarez.

Alvarez tied for 48th by bringing in $34 million. It also puts him in front of established sports stars like Phil Mickelson ($41 million) and Novak Djokovic ($34.5 million).

Paul, who turns 25 next week, has made quite a name for himself. Early in 2018, YouTube demonetized his channel after there was a lot of backlash surrounding a video his older brother Logan had filmed in a “suicide forest” in Japan. He was no longer earning income from the ads being played on his videos, and with brands separated their associated with him, which left the now-boxer devastated.

But now, the channel is once again generating ad revenue and is actually up to 20.4 million subscribers. However, not without controversy.

The FBI raided Paul’s residence in 2020 after he was captured on video at a mall as it was being looted (he did not face charges). He also made several inflammatory comments about Covid-19, calling it a “hoax” in a November 2020 interview with the Daily Beast.

But what happens to be the most serious offense was the allegations of sexual assault by TikTok personality Justine Paradise in April, allegations he has vehemently denied.

With all the madness, none of it seems to have affected his time in the ring.

Paul definitely has boxing victories, but his last fight was considered a disappointment due to the low views it received. Regardless, money-wise, Paul seems to be doing just fine. Even outside of boxing. He has other income streams coming in, including NFTs, merchandise that is purchased on his online shop, and short-term endorsement deals with brands like BoohooMan and DraftKings.

The young boxer also has his own boxing promotion company, Most Valuable Promotions. And his YouTube channel is still going.
