The NFL has already started making players put tape over the logos so it was only a matter of time before the headphone giant was pushed out of the league all together. Expect to see a lot less NFL players wearing Beats by Dre headphones thanks to a new NFL policy. Thanks to a long term deal the league signed with BOSE, players being seen with non-Bose headphones is strictly prohibited. They are not to wear Beats brand where cameras are present or at any NFL events — which means they pretty much can’t wear them anywhere.
The NFL has longstanding policies that prohibit branded exposure on-field or during interviews unless authorized by the league. These policies date back to the early 1990s and continue today,” an NFL spokesperson said in a statement. “They are the NFL’s policies — not one of the league’s sponsors, Bose in this case. Bose is not involved in the enforcement of our policies. This is true for others on-field.”
Don’t expect the players to get a piece of this new BOSE deal either, though players like Colin Kaepernick, Richard Sherman, Cam Newton and Russell Wilson have been backed by the Beats by Dre brand for the last few years.
