Last year, Pepsi teamed up with Boston Beer Company, which happens to be the parent company behind Sam Adams, Truly, and Angry Orchard to announce their plans to release Hard Mtn Dew.
The collab offered a new 5-percent ABV spin on the classic Mountain Dew soda.
In the wake of hard seltzer, hard soda has become a popular new thing — The Coca-Cola-owned brand Fresca also joins the trend earlier this month.
But Mtn Dew apart is leading in the trend, because of the brand’s inability to rest on its laurels. They partnered with Frito-Lay to make Flamin’ Hot Mtn Dew And then with KFC on an exclusive flavor. And they didn’t stop there, they also partnered with Game of Thrones on color-changing cans.
The gag is Hard Mtn Dew hasn’t hit stores yet, but they’ve already added a new variety: Hard Mtn Dew Baja Blast, which is being called a “surprise” fourth flavor (the first released flavors were Original, Black Cherry, and Watermelon).
Hard Baja Blast is an alcoholic beverage similar to the beloved Mtn Dew variety that started as a Taco Bell exclusive.
All four flavors will come in a 12-can variety pack that is launching in “a limited number of states” next month, according to the brand.
