The mugshot of a UK man wanted for burglary has set hearts aflutter.
British police posted a photo of 37-year-old Jonathan Cahill on Thursday, quickly racking up over 8,000 comments. The flurry of attention caused the agency to delete the Facebook post and limit comments on a Twitter post.
Cahill has since been dubbed the “fit felon” on social media.
West Yorkshire Police put out a Recall To Prison Appeal asking for information about Cahill’s whereabouts. He was released from prison after serving part of a sentence in connection to a burglary charge. They believe he violated the terms of his release and are looking to send him back to jail.
Cahill’s story is reminiscent of “hot felon” Jeremy Meeks. Meeks was able to turn his newfound fame into a modeling career after his mugshot went viral back in 2014. After being released from federal prison in 2016, he launched his own clothing line and walked in shows for big names like Tommy Hilfiger and Philipp Plein.
