A Brooklyn pastor was fatally stabbed by her adult son during a domestic altercation.
Kenji Francis, 40, stabbed his 61-year-old mother Tracey Syndor to death in their Brooklyn home over the weekend after the two got into a dispute. So far, no details about the dispute itself have been released. According to the New York Post, the incident took place just after 2 p.m. on Saturday at their home on Wynona Street near Livonia Avenue in New Lots. Police say Syndor was lying in a pool of her own blood with cuts all over her face and neck.
The news outlet reports Syndor was immediately taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Her son has been arrested and charged with murder and unlawful activity with a dangerous weapon. Police say Francis doesn’t have any criminal or psychiatric history.
Syndor was just appointed to her role as pastor two months ago. Bishop J. Carl Henderson, the senior pastor at her church, Upper Room Baptist Church in Bedford-Stuyvesant, released a statement on Syndor’s death via Facebook.
“Please keep the Sydnor, Francis, Chambers and Upper Room Family in prayer as we mourn the loss of our Mother, sister, cousin, friend and Executive Pastor, Pastor Tracey Sydnor,” Henderson wrote, the New York Post reports. “Further information will be released in the days to come.”
