Earlier this week UCLA was on lockdown as a gunman entered the campus, shooting an engineering professor and then himself.Â
39 year old Professor William Klug (pictured above) was shot around 10am by Mainak Sarkar, a 38-year-old former doctoral student. According to NBC News, the shooter had been upset about grades before shooting Klug, then turning the gun on himself. Police recovered the gun and a note next to the bodies of the two men.
According to new reports, Sarkar had a ‘kill list.’ The list included another professor (whose name has not been released) as well as Sarkar’s estranged wife, 31 year old Ashley Hasti (pictured above).Â
The other professor is reportedly safe, however Sarkar’s wife’s lifeless body was found inside their Brooklyn Park, Minnesota home with multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities were able to stumble upon the body from a clue left in Sarkar’s note that requested someone check on his cat.
It’s unclear how much time Sarkar spent in Los Angeles before heading to UCLA. Luckily for the other professor, he was off campus at the time of the shooting.Â
Sarkar was Ph.D graduate of UCLA’s engineering school. He graduated in 2013. He had been living in Minnesota, 2000 miles away, before packing up two semi-automatic pistols, multiple rounds of ammunition, and several magazines in a backpack and heading to California earlier this week.Â
