A Missouri man has been charged with second-degree child molestation after attempting to have multiple LGBTQ books removed from schools due to their sexual content.
According to KMBC-TV, Rylan Utterback, a 29-year-old parent, is also facing misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree domestic assault and, in a separate case, providing or trying to provide pornographic material to a minor.
It was reported that Utterback had spoken at a school board meeting in November to advocate for removing books from the library of North Kansas City Schools that depicted sexual acts.
“Those conversations are to be had at home, and only I have the intimate understanding of what is and isn’t appropriate for my children,” he said.
According to court filings, Utterback is accused of fondling a minor under the age of 12 in December 2020. In a separate incident, Utterback allegedly rubbed a teenager’s leg after sticking his finger through a ripped hole of her jeans.
In 2021, another complaint was filed accusing him of showing pornographic video footage to a 4-year-old.
It was reported that Utterback appeared for a hearing at the Clay County Courthouse on Thursday and is expected back in court on March 10.
