Tinder Swindler Headed to Court To Face The Real Leviev Family

Master catfish and scammer who calls himself Simon Leviev has been permanently banned from Tinder after Netflix dubbed him “The Tinder Swindler” in their new documentary.

Leviev, whose real name is Shimon Hayut, presented himself as a wealthy member of the Leviev family who has built a billion-dollar diamond empire. The man used Tinder to lure in unsuspecting women looking for love by initially showering them with lavish trips and gifts. However, he soon flipped the script and began demanding money because he was in “trouble” due to his wealthy status. Already lovestruck women sent the man money, which totaled millions of dollars. By the time they learned they’d been conned, it was too late.

After the explosive documentary aired, which featured several of his victims, Tinder decided he was no longer welcome on their app. As of Wednesday, when the film was released, Hayut was still active on Tinder, likely carrying out his same scheme.

“We have conducted internal investigations and can confirm Simon Leviev is no longer active on Tinder under any of his known aliases,” Tinder told Variety on Friday.

A now-deleted Instagram account for Hayut, which attracted over 200,000 followers, posted a message early Friday saying that he was ready to tell his side of the story. However, the profile has since disappeared.

Since launching his elaborate international romance scam, Hayut has only served five months in prison. After being released in 2019, he returned to Isreal, where he is free and continues to seek out women.
