Adele

Adele finds herself in the middle of another epic social media mess. She is the latest high-profile celebrity labeled as a TERF, “trans-exclusionary radical feminist,” after her remarks about loving “being a woman” during the Brit Awards who did away with gender-based categories.

The recent award she accepted was merged into Artist of the Year, formerly known as two awards, Best Female and Best Male Artist.

In her acceptance speech, she says, “I understand why the name of this award has changed, but I really love being a woman and being a female artist. I do!”

Though she had loud cheers, the social media attention was the loudest. “Staunch Feminist” performer Jacob tweeted,  “Please, no, ADELE can’t be a TERF.”

The “Easy on Me” singer continued with her speech, “I’m really proud of us, I really, really am.” The video circulated over social media, and though she had some critiques, others began rallying around her.

One user said, “It’s so disappointing to see so many people take a big moment from someone’s life and turn into a bigger divide within communities. this tweet is to celebrate adele, and that only.”

While one user said, “Why would she lament the award being changed? Why the emphasis on female? I’m not sure why she’s saying this?” The debate over whether the singer should apologize heated up.

Some believe she should apologize, while others think she shouldn’t. Though Adele has yet to comment on the controversial speech, fans are still waiting for her to address the big rock on her engagement finger.

“Weekends with Adele” was canceled after claiming the production wasn’t ready due to COVID-19. However, multiple reports said there was trouble in paradise with her boyfriend Rich Paul, which was the reason for the cancellation.

Adele has some addressing to do.

This is pathetic. Everyone should be able to express themselves how they feel. I thought that was the point. Sheesh
