Bobby Shmurda is fed up with his record label and wants out of his unfair deal immediately.

The Brooklyn-rapper, who has been free from prison for nearly a year, shared his frustration in an Instagram post on Thursday. Shmurda said the “70-year-old lady” running the label, referring to 69-year-old Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhone, is preventing him from releasing any new music. Instead, the 27-year-old says they kept him signed while in prison to continue making money off of him. The “Hot N—a” rapper even tried getting himself out of the contract before his release from prison to no avail.

“This is not a cry for help this is a message and understanding for my fans that they stopping my music and prolonging my career,” he wrote.

Shmurda shared similar disdain in December, accusing Epic of purposefully withholding his music.

“Go ask them mf’s who wanna control everything,” he wrote, responding to fans asking him about his new music.

Shmurda signed the deal when he was 19-years-old. Shortly after, he was sentenced to prison as his career began to take off. He has remained on the label but is also managed by Roc Nation. The rapper feels like he’s still in prison with the restrictive record deal.

Epic has not publicly responded to Shmurda’s claims.
