Wells Fargo bank claims Wendy Williams is an “incapacitated person” and needs guardianship to oversee her financial affairs.
According to Page Six, Wells Fargo asks a New York Supreme Court Judge to determine if Wendy needs guardianship.
“We are concerned about [Williams’] situation. It is our hope that the Guardianship Part [of the court] will imminently appoint a temporary guardian or evaluator. To review the situation and ensure that [Williams’] affairs are being properly handled,” says David H. Pikus, an attorney for the bank.
The request comes shortly after Wendy’s attorney Celeste McCaw filed an emergency petition against the bank last Friday. McCaw claimed Wells Fargo has denied Wendy access to her accounts “for more than two weeks.”
The denial came after Wendy’s former financial advisor Lori Schiller, alleged that the tv host was “of unsound mind.” McCaw stated in court documents that Wendy had fired Schiller due to “malfeasance” involving her accounts and “improper conduct in relation to their professional relationship.” Nevertheless, the court documents claim Wells Fargo “continues to rely on Schiller’s advisement as support for its decision to deny access to her financial assets and statements.”
Attorney Pikus further backs up his allegations by stating Schiller “recently witnessed signs of exploitation, including [Williams’] own expressed apprehensions.”
However, according to McCaw, Wendy “denies that she is the victim of undue influence and financial exploitation.”
Until the judge comes to a verdict, McCaw is requesting a restraining order against the bank to stop them “from freezing [Williams’] accounts and interfering with her right to access her financial assets and statements.”
