Fisk University recently announced the launch of the first HBCU Intercollegiate Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Team.
The university says women’s gymnastics exemplifies the same values as the university: determination, excellence, and a commitment to a more just and equitable future, adding that these values have consistently remained at the forefront of women’s gymnastics.
Fisk is excited to welcome these remarkable student-athletes to its campus, which will begin this coming fall. Fisk University has been recognized for its commitment to academic excellence and social justice. Over the past few years, it has focused on growing its athletic profile after there was a growing interest among student-athletes for an elite HBCU experience.
The school has been home to NBA legend Kenny Anderson and former Soccer star Desmond Armstrong and has an outstanding women’s volleyball program under Coach Jessica Enderle. Fisk is set to establish an elite list of national programs.

The recent announcement of Fisk’s partnership with the Los Angeles Lakers adds another opportunity for students to excel in the sports arena.
Fisk University has already started to lock in scholarship funding for future student-athletes on the gymnastics team. It plans to host conferences, clinics, and invitationals in partnership with organizations like Brown Girls do Gymnastics.
