A White father and son are facing criminal charges after a Black FedEx Express driver alleged that the men chased and shot at him while he was delivering packages in Brookhaven, Mississippi.
D’Monterrio Gibson, the 24-year-old FedEx driver, said when he called police to report his encounter with the two white men, a dispatcher told him that they had just received a call about a suspicious person at the same address.
Gibson told CNN he was delivering packages to a home around 7 p.m. on January 24 when he saw a white pickup truck come out from behind the house and follow him.
Carlos E. Moore, Gibson’s lawyer, said his client was in a Hertz rental van that had two large Hertz stickers on the back. He told CNN that Gibson was wearing a FedEx uniform, including a jacket, shirt, and pants but the vehicle itself had no FedEx markings.
The men Gregory Case and his son Brandon Case chased Gibson, and at one point, Brandon got out of the truck, pointing the gun at Gibson.
According to the affidavit, Brandon was charged with feloniously attempting to cause bodily injury with a firearm and a deadly weapon after shooting at the vehicle with Gibson inside.
Gregory Case was charged with unlawfully and feloniously conspiring with his son to commit aggravated assault by attempting to cause bodily injury to Gibson.
