A homeless man cut a slit a Utah woman’s throat after she let him in to take a shower.
At around 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 11, officers from the Salt Lake City Police Department responded to reports of a “woman heavily bleeding.” The suspect was identified as 30-year-old Eric Jones police arrested Jones about two miles away from where he is accused of cutting the woman’s throat.
The woman was immediately taken to a local hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. Fox News reports she’s currently in stable condition. The victim, who has yet to be named, said the man looked like he was homeless, and as a kind gesture, she allowed him into her home so that he could take a shower.
Salt Lake City police detective Michelle Mechling warns people against letting strangers into their homes. There are no details on whether the victim knew the suspect.
“It goes along with – know who you’re letting into your house and don’t let people you don’t know into your house,” Mechling told Fox 13 Utah. The man has been charged with one count of aggravated assault.
