George Zimmerman Suing Trayvon Martin's Parent

The defamation lawsuit filed by George Zimmerman against Trayvon Martin’s parents has been tossed out.

The audacious suit was brought against Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, attorney Ben Crump who represented the family, and several others. The man who murdered Trayvon Martin in cold blood accused his parents and Crump of conspiring to get charges filed against him and “destroy his goodwill and reputation in the community” by painting him as a racist killer who targeted Trayvon because he was Black.

Zimmerman also sued HarperCollins Publishers, which published a book by Martin’s parents that outlined the case. Half-sisters Brittany Diamond Eugene and Rachel Jeantel, who were friends of Trayvon, were also mentioned in the suit. The acquitted murderer claims Eugene refused to testify that she was the one talking to Trayvon before he was killed. Instead, her half-sister Jeantel took the stand during the 2013 trial and pretended that she was speaking with him before he was murdered on February 26th, 2012, in Sanford, Florida. Zimmerman was ultimately found not guilty.

Judge John Cooper in Tallahassee dismissed the lawsuit, stating that George Zimmerman failed to prove his case against the defendants.

“There can be no claim for conspiracy to defraud if there is no adequately stated claim for fraud,” Cooper stated in the dismissal.
