Ne-Yo says the only way men will stop calling women “b—-es” in their music is if they stop dancing to it.

The “So Sick” singer stopped by Real 92.3’s “The Cruz Show” this week, where he shared his thoughts on the current state of R&B and the “super misogynistic” lyrics being written. He explained that while he doesn’t completely understand why the shift occurred, women are partially to blame.

“I can only blame us, men, halfway for that. Because as a woman, if a man sings the word bitch to you and you smile at him, then he’s probably going to do it again,” the 42-year-old explained.

Ne-Yo believes that women are more forgiving of disrespectful songs today than ever before. He feels that the only way to eliminate the misogyny in music is to quit listening to it altogether.

“If y’all want men to stop calling you bitches, stop dancing to them records,” he added.

Ne-Yo also shared similar sentiments during an interview with Page Six, where he expressed disdain for the unhealthy evolution of love songs. He is not the only singer that feels R&B has taken a wrong turn. Back in 2014, singer Tank said there aren’t “many people left” who want to hear or buy “real lyrical content.”
