A New York judge has ordered Donald Trump and two of his children to answer questions about their business practices under oath.
Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump were subpoenaed on Thursday by a New York judge to answer questions about how they managed their business in the Trump Organization. This comes after the Trump Organization tried to block the state attorney’s subpoena. NBC News reports the Trump family’s lawyers claim Attorney General Letitia James’s intentions are politically motivated.
In his eight-page order, New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron said the three Trumps could be set to go under oath in the next three weeks. Per the order, Trump will also have to hand over documents and any other information wanted in the subpoena within two weeks, NBC News reports.
“In the final analysis, a state attorney general commences investigating a business entity, uncovers copious evidence of possible financial fraud, and wants to question, under oath, several of the entities’ principals, including its namesake. She has the clear right to do so,” wrote Engoron.
