Donald Glover announced the ending of the popular FX show, Atlanta. The series will wrap with season four. The show premiered in 2016 and captivated fans’ interest from the beginning. Glover opened up on what led to the decision at Television Critics Association panel.

“To be honest, I wanted to end it at Season 2. Death is natural … When the conditions are right for something, they happen, and when the conditions aren’t right, they don’t happen. Things start to get weird … you can’t do too much. The story was always supposed to be what it was, and the story, it really was us.”

After a huge success, the 38-year-old isn’t the only writer to end a series. Insecure’s Issa Rae ended the HBO hit show with season five, giving fans a final “aww” moment. The actress didn’t want to consume too much time from other actors and actresses in their life. Rae explained five years is a lot to ask for people in the entertainment industry.

When asked about why four seasons, Glover’s response was very clever. He referred to the show ending as graduation. “You go to high school, it’s four years. You go to college, it’s four years,” he said. “This is in our own essence like a graduation.”

The upcoming season of Atlanta will return to screens on March 24. Glover is optimistic about the rapper portrayed in the show, Paper Boi, life.
