The Coodie & Chike-directed Kanye West documentary jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy made its debut, and one clip from the doc really got people talking. A&R Wayne “Wayno” Clark took to Twitter to give context to a clip of Ye playing “All Falls Down” to an unenthused Chaka Pilgrim in the Roc-A-Fella office.
According to Wayno, who worked as an assistant A&R at the label, revealed that Ye had played the song multiple times at that point. By that point, it wasn’t new to Pilgrim.
“Lmao the context behind this is he played this song in the office and did this with a camera crew like 10x , how many times can you have a crazy reaction to something you’ve heard 10x it was kind of annoying at that point,” he wrote.

In a follow-up tweet, Wayno explained that times were just different back then. Ye had brought a camera crew with him, which was not typical. He also pointed out it was before camera phones were commonplace.
“Y’all also gotta realize this is at a time when phones ain’t even have cameras on em , he came with a camera crew all the time recording everything,” Wayno added. “People weren’t used to that, Chaka hair ain’t even done you think she was happy to be on camera?”

He also wanted his followers to know that no one at Def Jam disliked Kanye.
“Nobody at Roc disliked Kanye but it’s evident he didn’t fit in at a label that was mainly artists from the streets , but that’s exactly how & why it worked because he was so different it really stood out,” he said.
