New Yorkers are tired of hearing their neighbors get their freak on.
NYC residents made more than 270 noise complaints over the past year to the non-emergency 311 hotline, about everything from wild backyard orgies to the sounds of “loud ruthless sex.”
Callers have complained about weird noises they’ve heard their neighbors make while making love. One caller complained about the sound of grunts they described as a “sexual-tyrannosaurus” while another caller pleaded, “Listen I am a Christian woman, help this girl stop having loud sex before God does,” to a 311 operator in a 6 a.m. call.
The calls and online submissions came in from all five boroughs between Feb. 19, 2021, to Feb. 9 2022 thanks to a request made through the Freedom of Information Act.
Callers complained about their neighbors’ sexual activities happening in apartments next door, in their building’s stairways and even right outside their window.
“Orgy going on in the backyard, boobs and penis’ being flashed on the street,” a Queens resident reported at 1 a.m. last June.
“There is an obese gay man splashing his Latino lovers cheeks with his man syrup,” a citizen from Brooklyn wrote in their complaint last August.
