Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson is headed to daytime TV this fall with the launch of her new talk show.
The “Dreamgirls” star will be debuting “The Jennifer Hudson Show” merely months before “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” comes to an end after 19 seasons.
Produced by Telepictures, who also produced Ellen, the show was shopped around to multiple networks before landing in the hands of Fox TV Stations. The highly anticipated show will also launch on Hearst Television and other station groups, with an expected reach of about 60% of the U.S.
David Decker, executive vice president of Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, stated, “Daytime has found its Dreamgirl.” However, Hudson will have a big job on her hands, considering that the daytime TV space is an extremely difficult one to break into. Most talk shows are not renewed after the inaugural two-year contracts, but Hudson hopes to change that with meaningful conversations that “inspire and move us all.”
The exact premiere date of “The Jennifer Hudson Show” has not yet been revealed.
