The four men accused of selling late actor Michael K. Williams lethal bags of fentanyl-laced heroin each pleaded not guilty yesterday in Manhattan federal court.
The alleged drug dealers, Irving Cartagena, Hector Robles, Luis Cruz, and Carlos Macci, appeared in court in jail-issued yellow jumpsuits as they entered their pleas during the brief hearing.
All four men were charged with narcotics conspiracy resulting in death and will remain behind bars until trial. They will appear back in court for a hearing on June 10.
During the hearing, prosecutors said they will provide cell phone records, lab reports, social media posts, and records from the medical examiner ahead of trial to prove their guilt.
Federal prosecutors allege the men ran a drug-dealing operation in front of a Williamsburg, Brooklyn, apartment building and sold fentanyl-laced heroin in broad daylight that they hid in nearby garbage cans.
Investigators recovered surveillance footage that showed the moment Cartagena allegedly handed the lethal narcotics to Williams the day before he was found dead in his apartment on Sept. 6.
