Half-Sister of Meghan Markle Suing for Defamation After Duchess Claims She’s an Only Child

The family of Meghan Markle continues to take shots at her, this time with her half-sister suing the Duchess for defamation.

According to Samantha Markle, who shares the same father with Meghan, the wife of Prince Harry has told several lies about the Markle family in an effort to fuel her “rags to riches” story. Samantha claims in the complaint documents that Meghan told Oprah that she was an only child during an interview, though it appears that Meghan was referring to being her mother’s only child. In the same interview, she shared that she hadn’t seen Samantha for years, which is also something the disgruntled half-sister refutes.

Meghan has been vocal about paying her way through Northwestern University. However, Samantha says their father Thomas not only paid her college tuition but also covered her expenses in elite private schools dance and acting classes during her childhood.

The Duchess has been estranged from Thomas and his family for years. Despite not having a relationship with his daughter, that has not stopped him from bashing her in the media. In an October 2021 interview with “Good Morning Britain,” Thomas attacked his daughter, claiming she was only after money.

Samantha is seeking unspecified damages from her estranged sibling, claiming that her claims have caused her emotional distress, missed career opportunities, and halted the sale of her autobiography.

Meghan has not publicly responded, but her attorney, Michael Kump, told TMZ that the lawsuit was “baseless and absurd.”
