UFC Champion Cain Velasquez’s Bail Denied Following the Shooting of a Man Accused of Sexually Abusing His 4-Year-Old Relative

A California judge has denied bail for former two-time UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, who has been charged with attempted murder and multiple gun assault charges.

Velasquez took justice into his own hands when he fired at a pickup truck with a man inside who is accused of sexually abusing a 4-year-old family member, the New York Post reported.

He was arrested in San Jose last week following the incident. Authorities say he chased the pickup carrying the man through busy streets in three Silicon Valley cities and used his pickup truck to ram the vehicle during the 11-mile (18-kilometer) high-speed chase, prosecutors allege.

Velasquez, 39, is also accused of firing a .40-caliber pistol at the truck several times, which wounded the man’s stepfather, who was said to be driving at the time, in his arm and torso, prosecutors said.

Celebrity attorney Mark Geragos represents Velasquez and told reporters that he plans on vindicating his client so that he can return to his family, the Mercury News reported.

In 2019, Velasquez transitioned to pro-wrestling after he retired from his MMA career. He is a former two-time UFC heavyweight champion and earned title belts in 2010 and 2012.
