South Florida School Teacher To Undergo Surgery After 5-Year-Old Special Needs Student Allegedly Attacks Her

A teacher in Florida was left “dazed” and “unresponsive” after a 5-year-old student attacked her after they were placed in a “cool down” room.

Officials told NBC News on Monday, first responders found a teacher “sitting on the ground against the wall,” looking as if she were in a “faint state” at Pines Lakes Elementary School. According to Pembroke Pines Police Department, the woman was “clearly weak and dazed” and was able to “blink and breathe regularly,” but at no point was she able to vocally respond or show signs of a response.”

The woman’s state comes after placing a 5-year-old boy in a “cool down” room after he was reportedly removed from class for “throwing things around” and “flipping the chairs.” When the child was taken to the empty room, that’s when the child allegedly attacked the teacher.

The news outlet reports the child has special needs. The woman suffered a “severe concussion” after the child allegedly “pounced on her.” She then “fell backwards and smacked her head.”

NBC News reports the woman was immediately taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. After being treated, she was released. A spokesman for the police says the child will more than likely not be prosecuted, but the incident and the child are being investigated for possible “aggravated assault with hands, fist and feet.”
