Four months after the heartbreaking Astroworld catastrophe, Travis Scott has launched his Project HEAL initiative.

The “OUT WEST” superstar took to Instagram on Tuesday to detail the endeavor and what it will entail. According to Scott, this “lifelong journey” will donate an initial $5 million to various causes, including “tech-driven solution for event safety.”

“My team and I created Project HEAL to take much-needed action towards supporting real solutions that make all events the safest spaces they can possibly be. I will always honor the victims of the Astroworld tragedy who remain in my heart forever,” Scott wrote in the caption.

One million dollars of the inaugural funds will go directly towards HBCU scholarships that Scott and his Cactus Jack Foundation hope to gift to at least 100 students with a 3.5 GPA. The additional $4 million will be split between Dr. Janice Beal’s mental health program for children, the expansion of the CACT.US Youth Design Center, and the United States Conference of Mayors Task Force on Event Safety, which will establish new concert safety measures.

This push is Scott’s first major step towards remedying the Astroworld tragedy, which claimed the lives of ten of his fans and injured hundreds of others during his famed music festival in Houston, Texas. Since then, Scott and Astroworld organizers have been hit with hundreds of lawsuits, some of which have been consolidated into one large lawsuit.
