A New York City man was charged with murder yesterday after he shot and killed the friend of his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend earlier this week.
The incident occurred Tuesday night when 28-year-old Tyrell Rodgers allegedly opened fire in an attempt to shoot his girlfriend’s ex.
Rodgers reportedly struck the ex-boyfriend in the right arm and hit his friend, 31-year-old Kenneth Williams, in the abdomen. Both men were rushed to a nearby hospital where the ex-boyfriend was listed in stable condition, but his friend was pronounced dead.
Rodgers was arrested after he was located in the Bronx by the NYPD’s Regional Fugitive Task Force. Authorities are still unclear on the motivation behind his actions, aside from possible jealousy.
Rodgers was also charged with robbery over an incident earlier this year where he allegedly pulled out a gun on his girlfriend while she was holding her child over a dispute about her phone.
