Russia is reportedly asking China for military and economic assistance.
As the U.S. and other allies continue to impose sanctions against Russia following its sudden invasion of Ukraine, Russia has reportedly requested military and economic assistance from China, CNN Politics reports.
After the news of Russia’s request made it to the White Hous national security advisor Jake Sullivan, Sullivan met with Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi to touch base about the conversation. Sullivan opened up about Russia’s moves on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, calling China’s potential assistance to Russia a “concern.”
“We also are watching closely to see the extent to which China actually does provide any form of support, material support or economic support, to Russia. It is a concern of ours. And we have communicated to Beijing that we will not stand by and allow any country to compensate Russia for its losses from the economic sanctions,” Sullivan said.
As of Sunday, Russia has made its way to western Ukraine, dropping missiles down on a military base.
