In an attempt to mock rising gas prices, Kyle Rittenhouse shared an edited clip of him crying from his murder trial.
The meme was shared on Rittenhouse’s Twitter account on Thursday, where it has since been reshared more than 5,000 times.
In the edited video, Rittenhouse can be seen filling up his car at the gas station while in tears.
In the original clip, Rittenhouse is seen hyperventilating as he described to the jury the circumstances that led up to the shooting of Joseph Rosenbaum in August 2020 during the Black Lives Matter protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
“No, it’s not Lemon Heads.. it’s the burning hole in my pocket thanks to a Joe Biden presidency,” Rittenhouse tweeted while sharing the clip.
According to Rittenhouse, the “funny video” was created by Twitter user @derfanzor.
The “lemon heads” comment was a reference to LeBron James’ criticism of him during the trial.
On social media in November 2021, video showing Rittenhouse crying in court went viral, prompting LeBron to tweet: “What tears????? I didn’t see one. Man knock it off! That boy ate some lemon heads before walking into court.”
Since then a number of users on Twitter criticized Rittenhouse for using the moment when he cried during his trial to make a joke.
